Celebrating the Life of Rev Baldev Narang Ji
Rev Baldev Narang Ji, Nirankari Mission State in-Charge, merged into the Almighty Nirankar on June 28, 2018. He was 67. The cremation took place at Nigambodh Ghat on June 29 in the presence of family members and a large number of devotees of the Mission. Prerna Diwas / Uthala, presided over by Rev Inderjit Sharma Ji, was held on Monday July 2. Paying tribute to him and taking inspiration from his life, sadh sangat shared stories about Baldev Ji’s devotion to the Satguru and the Nirankari Mission.
Born on May 26, 1951 at Kingsway Camp, Delhi in the family of Rev. Kasturi Singh Ji and Smt. Bhagwant Kaur Ji, his maternal grandfather was the esteemed saint Bhai Sahib Santokh Singh Ji, revered for his Sewa in establishing the Nirankari Sarovar during the days of Shahenshah Baba Avtar Singh Ji.
Baldev Narang Ji lost his father when he was 2 years old. From an early age, he garnered strength from being a devoted Nirankari and received Brahmgyan from his grandfather. Though young, he did not shy away from his responsibilities and stepped forward to take care of his family needs. He earned his B.Sc. in 1970 from St. Stephens College, Delhi University and shortly after, married Sunita Ji, daughter of respected and honoured saint Shri Attar Singh Ji, in Delhi on October 12, 1972. Baldev Narang Ji moved from Kingsway Camp to Mukherjee Nagar in 1977 and from Mukherjee Nagar to their present residence in Model Town in 2005. Baldev Narang Ji was a very devout Gursikh of Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji and Raj Mata Ji. He was present during the attack on the Baisakhi Samagam in Amritsar on April 13, 1978. He continued his Sewa towards Satguru when Baba Hardev Singh Ji became the spiritual leader of the Nirankari Mission.
With the blessings of Satguru Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj, Baldev Ji was appointed Mukhi of Model Town branch on May 27, 2005. He expanded the Sangat in his area, by promoting the values of the Nirankari Mission. He was dedicated to upholding the values of the Mission: practice oneness; world without walls; and kindness, peace and humanity. He encouraged the saints to attend the Sangat regularly.
With his continued devotion and dedication, Baldev Ji was given the responsibility of Sector Incharge (Sanyojak) Model Town, Delhi on April 29, 2013. In this role, he further expanded the Sangat, bringing devotees together. Each year, prior to the Annual Nirankari Sant Samagam, he oversaw the transportation arrangements from Delhi railway station to the Samagam grounds for the saints coming from various states. Within the community, he strived to reconcile and resolve differences with love and tolerance.
Baldev Ji was granted permission to reveal Brahamgyan on behalf of the Satguru on January 8, 2015. Soon after, he accompanied Satguru Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj on several tours in India. With Satguru’s directive, he presided over Sangats across United States and participated in many Samagams in North America, Europe, and Asia. On February 15, 2018, he was assigned the duty of State In-charge. With humbleness, happiness, and great enthusiasm, he accepted this expanded responsibility to serve the Nirankari Mission.
Baldev Narang Ji, Manmohan Narang Ji, and Jasbir Narang Ji, have been successful owners of the gold, diamond, and silver jewellery business known around the world as ‘Nirankari Jewels’ located in Kingsway Camp, Delhi. Running the business successfully for over 45 years, Baldev Ji never allowed his business to come in the way of his service to the Satguru and the Nirankari Mission. Accompanied by his life partner, Smt. Sunita Narang Ji, he would seldom miss a Sangat in India and always jumped at the opportunity to attend Samagams abroad. As humble servants of the Mission, Smt. Sunita Narang Ji and Rev Baldev Narang Ji considered all Sadh Sangat as their own family and gave guidance and strength to them during any time of need. He lived his life truly following Gurumat “Jo Kuj Aakhe, Oh Kuj Karna, Sev Kamana Sikhi Ae.”
Baldev Ji instilled the values of humbleness, kindness and oneness in his family. He shared stories of his life experience with his kids and grandkids, teaching them the importance of Sewa, Simran, and Satsang in our lives. His daughters Savita, Sangeeta, and Rupam; his son Ashmeet; and their spouses, continue to derive strength from his teachings and experiences.
Mohan Lal Narang Ji, the younger brother of Rev. Baldev Narang Ji, is a devoted member of the New Jersey Sangat in USA. His 3 grandsons, Arin, Sehaj and Aryamaan, and 2 granddaughters Keertika and Riya continue to look up to their grandfather for upholding the beliefs of the Nirankari Mission. To his grandkids, Baldev Ji was the grandfather “with a heart of solid gold, who never got old”.
